It’s hard to believe a whole year has passed since we planned our first ever Bike to School Month at our local elementary school . I feel so much older and wiser this year : )
We launched a very successful bike to school campaign last May that inspired many families to ditch their cars and go by bike to school. Last year, hundreds of kids biked to school in May. Judging from the number of bikes in the racks at school these past few weeks, this year will be no different. It seems more families have made biking to school a habit.
We’re gearing up for our second annual Bike to School Month Family event this weekend. Last year was so successful, it’s hard to imagine topping it. This year we’ve teamed up with another local elementary and are hosting an event at each school over the weekend.
Again we’ll feature:
- wrenchin dads who will fix flats, true a few wheels and spiff up some kids bikes for spring riding
- a kids Bike Rodeo where they can test their road skills
- the Amazing 7 seater conference Bike. (Thanks again, David!)
- and yummy snacks to keep the kids fueled up and hydrated
We’re looking forward to a fun event. I’ll post some pictures next week.

Anne, have fun. Make those other parents pedal the conference bike this year. đ
‘Bout time we heard from you again… that’s alotta kids riding to school. I like it.
Marge, I definitely will! I was tired after pedaling the conference bike for 2 hours last year!
dadabean, I know, we’ve been pretty lame lately. I promise to try harder. đ
Inspiring! We have some regular bike commuters at our school but I’ve been thinking about somehow rallying more folks for National Bike Month in May. Will look forward to hearing about your event this weekend. Good luck. We’ll be doing this: http://www.rocktorock.org
